Where to Start

Grab your favorite blanket, fuzzy slippers, and let’s read with myON.

To join the challenge, GISD students should log into their myON account using Ready Hub and GISD community members will log into their personal accounts at www.myon.com.

There are two ways to participate!

Read and Write Challenge

  • Read your favorite winter book in myON.
  • Write a story based on the following prompt:  If I could be a snowflake anywhere in the world, I would live in…
    • Pre-K–2: 25 to 30 words
    • Grades 3–5: 50 to100 words
    • Grades 6–8 & Grades 9 –12: 100+ words
  • Complete this form and upload your story.

Minutes Read Challenge

  • All students and community members reading 300 or more minutes OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS* will be entered to win an Amazon Kindle, Gift Cards, and more!
  • The top Elementary, Middle, and High School with the most minutes read will be awarded a large banner and other amazing prizes to honor their dedication to literacy.

*Outside of school hours includes non-school days, weekends, before 7am, and after 3pm.
