Where to Start

Join the GISD Community and Cozy Up with Good Books

To join the challenge, GISD students should log into their myON account using Ready Hub and GISD community members will log into their personal accounts at www.myon.com.

Grab your favorite blanket, fuzzy slippers, and read with myON.

There are two ways to participate!

Read and Write Challenge

Read at least one WINTER book on myON.

Write a story based on the following prompt: You are given the task of picking one book that the entire planet is going to read. Write about the book would you choose and why?

  • Pre-K–2: 25 to 30 words
  • Grades 3–5: 50 to100 words
  • Grades 6–8 & Grades 9 –12: 100+ words

Complete this form and upload your story.

Winners will be selected in each grade range: Pre-K–2, Grades 3–5, Grades 6–8, and Grades 9–12

Winners will be determined based on the following rubrics:

Minutes Read Challenge

All students and community members reading 300 or more minutes on myON and myON News will be entered to win gift cards and other fun prizes.

The top Elementary, Middle, and High School with the most minutes read will be awarded a large banner and other amazing prizes to honor their dedication to literacy.

The time spent reading will automatically be tracked when readers open a book.

Individual prizes will be based upon the total minutes read and school prizes will be based on the average minutes read per student.
